Last year, I learned of Thomas Dambo [Creator] of the Forest Giants that are made from recycled materials. First, I visited, Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest in Clermont, Kentucky [An amazing Kentucky Hidden Gem]. Bernheim is home of 3 Forest Giants!
Then, after visiting Bernheim I couldn’t get enough of the experience and Forest Giants… So, I traveled to Morton Arboretum to visit 6 more that are on display near Chicago, Illinois.
Want to see the Forest Giants? Keep Scrolling for my experiences and to join in on the fun!
Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest Forest Giants
First, we will start with Bernheim Arboretum which is located in Clermont, Kentucky. Bernheim has 3 Forest Giants on display within the Forest. This arboretum and research forest is the ultimate destination to bring the family, kids, and even your friends.
Bernheim is open from 7 am – 8 pm daily all throughout the year other than Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve.
Note: The grounds are actually free to visit, but a $10 donation is suggested per car for non-members.
Morton Arboretum
Second, Chicago’s Morton Arboretum, has 6 different trolls in which you can go on the well known “Troll Hunt”. The “Troll Hunt” is fun for the whole family and consists of a scavenger hunt in which you embark on a journey to find the 6 trolls that inhabit the Morton Arboretum.
The Trolls names are as follows:
- Rocky Bardur

- Joe the Guardian
- Furry Ema
- Niels Bragger
- Little Arturs

You can see the spoiler page here: [DONT visit the link unless you want to spoil the surprise in the locations of the trolls].

These are cool! I like that you are showcasing lesser known spots 🙂 These would be great day stops on a road trip to get out and enjoy nature if you’re not someone who necessarily likes just hiking though woods.
