Train Rides are an excellent way to experience areas that you might otherwise be unable to explore. The Bluegrass Railroad Museum located in Versailles, Kentucky is an excellent way to get out there and enjoy the fresh air! The Museum is also ONLY operated by Volunteers so it is an excellent way to show your support for the museum to go visit and take a scenic train ride.

There are SO many places to explore in Kentucky, but the Bluegrass Railroad Museum sure holds a special place in my heart. I especially enjoyed the open car experience as pictured below.
Train Rides occur every Saturday beginning at 2:00 pm EST from May- October. The train rides are approximately 90 minutes long and show off 5 miles of beautiful Kentucky Scenery. The ride is perfect for the entire family, even children will love it. The Railway also offers seasonal rides such as a pumpkin patch ride where you can pick pumpkins, and a Santa Clause Ride during Christmas time.
The train ride ends with a beautiful view of Youngs High Bridge, located in Tyrone, Kentucky. The bridge was built in 1889 for the Louisville Southern Railroad. Such a unique bridge as it has NEVER been modified, or altered and stands as it was from over 130 years ago!
Did you know?
The last train to embark across the bridge was in 1983 and it was a Southern Work Train.
The bridge is now used as a platform in which bungee jumpers dive a whopping 240 feet above the Kentucky River!
