Pine Mountain State Resort Park offers a variety of quirky Kentucky hiking trails specifically Chained Rock. This area makes for a perfect destination during all times of the year but is a must-see fall destination. This area showcases an abundance of fall foliage views, and many overlooks. One of my favorite places to visit in the area is definitely Chained Rock in Pineville, Kentucky. Another great location to visit is Clear Creek Hollow Trail which you can view HERE.
Chained Rock: A Quirky Kentucky Location
Chained Rock is definitely a quirky Kentucky location as it is rumored to have been created due to the fact that if the rock were to fall, it would take out the town below. Many people were rumored to have “been kept up all hours of the night” worrying about if and when the rock would fall. However, many say that in the 1930s the chain was tethered to the rock in order to bring tourism to the town. What do you think of this? Do you believe this is true, or some ploy to gain tourism?
Chained Rock is fairly easy to find, below is the address. You’ll just continue on the road until you reach an parking lot at the very top. Along the way, you’ll see many pull offs, overlooks, and trailheads. Now, get out there and explore this beautiful area!
Address:
1050 State Park Rd, Pineville, KY 40977
Check out this hiking trail while in the area, I promise it will not disappoint. Click HERE to be directed to one of my articles that follows an abandoned L&N spur with trestle bridges, and a tunnel.
